From June 1 to 4, 2006, more than 400 swimmers with a disability from 25 nations came to Berlin for this year’s German Swimming Open. The event, which was organized for the 7th time in the German capital, was the last international test before the World Championships in Durban, South Africa, in December.
During the 4 days of the competition, athletes took part in 71 competitions and broke more international records than ever before in Berlin. Best German swimmers were Kirsten Bruhn of the club PSV Neumünster, who was recently nominated for the prestigious Laureus Sports Award and Christoph Burkhard of TV Rottweil.
