From December 1 to 6, 2011, amputee and Wheelchair athletes from Japan, Iran, China, Croatia, Poland, Russia and many other countries were in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, for the 2011 International Wheelchair & Amputee Sports (IWAS) World Games. The competition was organized in the Althiqah Club for the Handicapped
and at the campus of the American University.
Participants took part in several sports, including athletics, swimming, power lifting and table tennis. Beside of these Paralympic sports, an Amputee Football Show event was organised, presented by the GB Ampute Football team and the Russian Amputee Soccer team.
Disabled athletes from the People's Republic of China won 18 Gold medals, followed by the athletes of the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which won 12 Gold medals each.

Vom 1. bis 6. Dezember 2011 waren behinderte Sportlerinnen und Sportler aus der ganzen Welt sind in Sharjah, Vereinigte Arabischen Emirate, um an den 2011 IWAS World Games teilzunehmen.
Der Wettkampf wurde im Althiqah Club for the Handicapped
und der Amerikanischen Universität von Sharjah ausgetragen.
Neben den bekannten Paralympischen Sportarten wie Schwimmen, Tischtennis, Leichtathletik wurde in Sharjah auch Amputierten Fußball vorgestellt. Die auch als Amputee Soccer oder Amputee Football bekannte Sportart wird ohne Prothesen und mit Gehhilfen gespielt. Zurs Demonstration waren das GB Amputee Football Team und das Russische Amputee Soccer Team angereist.
