Amputee Soccer World Championships Antalya Photos 3

During the finals of the 2007 Amputee Football World Championships, the amputee soccer team of Uzbekistan beat the team of Russia with 2 : 1 and is new Amputee Football World Champion.

The Amputee Football World Championship, which was held from November 11 to 21, was attended by Amputee Football players from Brazil, Sierra Leone, Russia, the Ukraine, England, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Iran, Liberia and France.

The event was organized by the Turkish Sports Federation for Physically Disabled Athletes and the Turkish Football Federation and held in the soccer complex of the Topkapi Palace Hotel in the Southern Turkish city of Antalya.

From the expected 12 teams only 11 managed to come to the competition, while the amputee football players from Nigeria could not take part because of financial difficulties. Due to visa difficulties the team of Ghana arrived late and did not compete in the championships.
